Huahua I just saw this forum is getting active (my user was made, 3, 4 months ago and it was totally dead, now its 10 active members at least <3).
Well I tested the shoutbox and found 2 errors, one that ain't so bad, and one a little critical one.
If you wrote "huahua" the message will appear as "huahua"
This is pretty messy.

If you write the symbol % (percent) then it will crash, and won't work again until you reload the page. Showing no errors, else than that your post did not appear, and you will not receive any messages that will be further added to the box.
Yea, the shoutbox that TProgramming uses has a few problems. The majority of them involve certain symbols, so should be fixable using htmlspecialchars() or strip_tags().
It's up to whoever manages that stuff to fix it, though
Why not join the IRC then?, shoutboxes were never intended for chatting at all
To join the IRC, take a look at my signature.
Even if I'm not available at the moment, you can still keep the client open so you get a presence - next time someone joins, the channel won't be empty.

PS: The problem you describe is due to the sanitation of the input data, which is there to prevent code injections. It is however lacking a proper output for the sanitized data...
